Today I was at the fantastic venue known as The Manor Barn in Buriton, Hampshire. I was doing the wedding photography for Holly and Darrell who live near Portsmouth. They originally booked me for their wedding in December 2008 but let me know in good time that they had postponed it until December 2009 and thankfully, I was free and available to work with them, a year later, on their revised date.
After some photos with Holly, Mum and the bridesmaids at the house, I tripped up the short journey along the A3 to Buriton which is a beautiful small hamlet with a duck pond, church and a couple of pubs – just off the South Downs. This barn is a great venue for a wedding and easily catered for the 100+ guests and family at the wedding. The ceremony was great to photograph, despite the fact that a huge Christmas tree was blocking the spot I might typically stand in!! The weather was as poor as it has ben pretty much continuously for the last fortnight, albeit we managed to get some outdoor shots before the wedding and a few of the largest groups after the ceremony too – We were lucky, armed with a white brolly and Holly’s pink wellies, we also managed to get a few shots of the happy couple in the gardens, before returning indoors for the remainder of the day.
The Manor Barn is one of my favourite wedding or reception venues in Hampshire, and has attractive grounds and gardens to the rear of the Manor House, and vast attractive spaces inside too.

Holly chose a surpise Classic VW 1979 Bay Window Bus (campervan to most people) as a wedding car. It was provided by 'Solent Bug and Bus' and they run three classic retro VWs, including a Karmann cabrolet Beetle and a spilt screen bus called 'Basil' too. Call them for more details on 02392 524 369 or visit: http://www.solentvw.co.uk/
The images will be available for viewing for Holly and Darrell and their families very soon and there are a good selection posted here too, to give you a flavour of the day and evening too.
