Your Hampshire Wedding Magazine - Sept / Oct 2010. Hampshire Wedding Photographer - Martin Lewis

I was pleased to be selected as the wedding photographer to supply the Sep / Oct 2010 edition of the Your Hampshire Wedding Magazine, my images for the cover photo and also a ‘real wedding’ article, starting on Page 62. The real wedding and cover photo came from the wedding of Emily and Chris who got married on the 3rd July 2010 at HMS Warrior and so is featured earlier in my blog – Warrior is one of my favourite venues for wedding photography in our region. It is an atmospheric and unique maritime venue, having spectacular backdrops, vibrant colours and amazing structures which make for great, traditional or sometimes fairly modern images. You can view details of the HMS Warrior website here: http://www.hmswarrior.org/hospitality/weddings1.htm

I thoroughly enjoy working at HMS Warrior where I also advertise in their brochure. I especially enjoy working with their Events staff, including Emma, Julie and Andrew, who can be reached on 02392 778 604. They coordinate all their weddings and other events, to a high standard and are great people to work with and are fantastically committed to their roles and this great ship.

The Your Hampshire Wedding Magazine is about to morph into the Your Hampshire and Dorset Magazine and, as such will cover the adjacent County and one where I frequently attend to cover local weddings. The home page of the magazine is here: http://www.yourhampshirewedding.co.uk/index.cfm

I should also make mention here of the fab catering suppliers who serve Warrior weddings: County Caterers. They produce fantastic cuisine, refreshments and service, in my experience. You can view their website here, or via the link to them from my own website links page: http://www.countycaterers.co.uk/

If you purchase a copy of the Sep / Oct edition (or future ones) and want to get in contact with me about your wedding plans – please feel free to do so. I look forward to possibly meeting you and perhaps showing you a range of my photos and wedding books.

A few sample HMS Warrior images from the wedding of Emily and Chris are shown here – just to wet the appetite. If you scroll back through my blog – you’ll find many more throughout the previous weddings.

I also thank the editor of the magazine called Rowena for giving me permission to reproduce the small cover photo here.

Commercial photographer in Dorset

Today was a commercial job. I was doing (a second session) disco and first dance photography for a local DJ – DJ Joe Smith who I met at The Brookfield Hotel Wedding Fair, earlier in the year.
The location Joe chose for this second photo session was a ‘real wedding’ at Trenchard Lines near Salisbury. We plan to cover another photo shoot shortly at Marwell (Hotel, not Zoological Park) to give him some variety of shots, primarily for use on his website.

The website for DJ Joe Smith is here: http://www.djjoe.co.uk/ Joe is local to me and based in Havant and was also at The Langstone Hotel Wedding Fair I attended a week or two ago. Why not check him out if you are looking for a DJ for your wedding or other special occasion? I can certainly recommend him after hearing and watching him work on a couple of occasions now.

These images will be available for viewing for DJ Joe Smith very soon and for use in his PR, website, publications, and other materials.

If you should be considering using a professional photographer for publicity, PR, website, headshots, pack shots, staff in situ (action / story telling) photos – please feel free get in touch for a no obligation / no hard sell - discussion. I am offering some very good rates for imminent bookings, subject to my availability, I look forward to helping YOU too.

Wedding Photographer at Portsmouth Register Offices in Hampshire.

Today I was at Portsmouth Registrar Offices for a wedding. I was doing the wedding photography for Jane and Mark. As a full time pro photographer, specializing in weddings - I still cover a good number of mid week weddings and particularly local ones through the winter period. I enjoy the challenges of winter weddings that the weather and low light / darkness brings (sometimes snow even!!). Not all photographers do enjoy photographing in mid winter and so it pays to book one that is not just well experienced in photographing weddings at your chosen venue, but also happy and competent in photographing in the 'off season' if thats when you choose to get married.

It was a good day for photography today weather wise, although a local gas leak caused traffic disruption chaos owing to closed roads around the Register Office and I had to park around a mile away and walk (jog!!) there.

After a 3pm ceremony and a couple of shots on the stair case - we posed for some photos at various locations around the Register Office gardens before the couple and their guests headed off to The Rainbow Pub for a meal and an evening of celebrations. A couple of my favourite photos are above.

The Portsmouth Register Offices is one of my favorite Register Offices to cover, as the space and gardens are fantastic and the staff are always helpful to me too. You can see their website here: www.portsmouth.gov.uk/living/580.html

I cover some local mid week weddings at very competitive rates – so please feel free to contact me to check out my availability and options or SPECIAL OFFERS. It is usually best advice to book a photographer early and particularly for popular summer dates – but Jane and Mark actually only contacted me around a fortnight ago and luckily – I was free today.

The images will be available for viewing for Jane and Mark and their families very soon.

Wedding Photographer at HMS Warrior in Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Today I was at HMS Warrior in the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth. I was photographing the wedding photography of Becky and Tush.

Becky and her Father arrived in a purple Classic VW ‘Bay Window’ camper van. It looked fantastic, although it was a very bright late afternoon and long shadows on the slip way made for challenging photography.

The ceremony was enjoyable to photograph and was on the ‘Half Deck’. The mood and atmosphere at this venue is fantastic, if a little cramped for the photographer!!

We were lucky to get dry conditions after a very bright, cold start - for some great opportunities for photos around the ship. Having photographed the ceremony and signing of the registers, we opted for some photos on deck and at various locations, before the couple and their guests headed below for a great meal, provided by the staff of County Caterers. You can view their website here, or via the link to them from my own website links page: http://www.countycaterers.co.uk/

The website of HMS Warrior is here: http://www.hmswarrior.org/ and I always enjoy working here as the colours and the structures of the ship makes for great opportunity for creative and FUN, relaxed photography. A photographers dream – here I am spoilt for choice in terms of locations and options for photos. I also love working with the staff here and particularly Julie and Andrew who coordinate their events and weddings – they are so helpful and cooperative to me and their clients too. I would have no hesitation in recommending HMS Warrior as a fab wedding venue in Portsmouth.

The images will be available for viewing for Becky and Tush and their families very soon.

Wedding photographer in Hampshire | Portsmouth Register Offices.

Today I was at Portsmouth Registrar Offices for a wedding. I was doing the wedding photography for Rachelle and Jim and there were just four people present in total. So not many group photos today!

The wedding season is starting to slow down now, although I still cover a number and particularly mid week and local ones through the winter period.

It was a good bright day for photography today, if a little chilly in the morning shade. I even had to scrape the ice of the windscreen before setting off.

After a 10.30am ceremony and a couple of shots on the stair case - we posed for some photos at various locations around the Register Offices before the couple and their guests headed off to Chichester for a meal and a day of celebrations.

The Portsmouth Register Offices is one of my favorite Register Offices to cover, as the space and gardens are fantastic and the staff are always helpful to me too. You can see their website here, or via the links page on my own website: www.portsmouth.gov.uk/living/580.html

I cover some local, mid week weddings at very competitive rates – so please feel free to contact me to check out my availability and options or SPECIAL OFFERS. It is usually best advice to book a photographer early and particularly for popular summer dates – but Jim and Rochelle actually only contacted me around a fortnight ago and luckily – I was free today.

Wedding Fair at The Langstone Hotel, Hayling Island, Hampshire

I am updating this having just got in from attending The Langstone Hotel Wedding Fair today.
This was my first visit to The Langstone Hotel as an exhibitor, having covered many weddings and receptions here previously and I also now advertise in their current Wedding Ceremonies Guide.
I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all those people who chatted to me, the few who booked me as their wedding photographer on the day, and the many who took away details and might want to get in touch at some point in the coming weeks or months to chat about their plans.

I realise that many couples visiting will be getting married at other local churches and venues and I am pleased to say that the Hotel is on my doorstep and so I have good experience of many of the great venues and other locations for photography in our locality.

I had a great first visit and was displaying a good range of my recent work. There were real wedding albums of recent weddings from venues I frequently visit, such as HMS Warrior and others in Portsmouth, albums from weddings at Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest or HighCliffe Castle in Dorset.

I also distributed around 50 copies of the Your Hampshire Wedding Magazine Sep / Oct edition, which contains my cover photo and an editorial from a ‘real wedding’ I covered in July this year at HMS Warrior in Portsmouth. You can see that image above.

Please feel free to get in touch and make an appointment to chat to me and to discuss your photography plans and ideas for your wedding, if you would like to. I will be happy to chat to you on the phone, either before or after each of the Fairs I plan to attend in Winter 2010/11. The next is likely to be at Langrish House on the 30th January 2011 - so please do watch this space for news of that, if its of interest.

I would draw everyone’s attention to my SHOW special offer of a FREE disc of all the 'High Res' images presented – to any new wedding photography booking for 2010, 11 or 12 – received throughout the remainder of October and November 2010. Please just mention this offer, at the time of booking, to claim your FREE DVD.

Please contact me for further details, to discuss your plans or perhaps to ask for the opportunity to arrange to meet up at a mutually convenient time, should you wish to do so.

Wedding Photographer at St Annes in Portsmouth and The Royal Marines Museum in Southsea

Sadie and Mike’s wedding ceremony was at St Anne’s church in Portsmouth historic docklands, Hampshire. It’s a fantastic large, colourful and bright church in the docks at Portsmouth, near to my home town of Emsworth. The reception was at The Royal Marines Museum, Southsea, Hampshire.

I started my day at the church, with arrivals of Mike and his Best Man and the Ushers, followed by bridesmaids, then Sadie herself. Sadie and her Father arrived in a Black and White Daimler provided by Lawnswood Limousines. http://www.llcars.co.uk/

Sadie and Mike and members of their bridal party were fantastic to photograph as they were all very relaxed and clearly looking forward to a FUN day. They planned no formal ‘group photos’ at the church and just for later at the Royal Marines Museum. The ceremony was good to photograph as the church benefits from a fair amount of natural light and the Vicar and Verger are always very helpful to me at this church.

Having photographed the ceremony and signing of the registers, we opted for some guard of honor and confetti shots outside the front door of the church. We then rejoined the guests after a few photos and all gathered at the Green Routemaster Bus for the trip to the reception venue.
This visit to The Royal Marines Museum was the first this year for me. I advertise within the Royal Marines Wedding and Corporate Events brochure and supply images for use in their new website and other PR and marketing material. I hope to attend many more events in 2011 at this fantastic location. You can find their website via the link on the links page of my own website, or here: http://www.royalmarinesmuseum.co.uk/

The Royal Marines Museum is a wedding photographer and couples dream as it has extensive attractive grounds outside and some great locations and space inside too – with a fantastic formal staircase and beautiful rooms. If that wasn’t enough – it’s only a stones throw from the seafront / beach in Southsea and not far from some of my favourite places in Old Portsmouth for photography. You can contact Zeenat Turner at the venue on 02392 819 385 xt 241 or 249 or email her: zeenat.turner@royalmarinesmuseum.co.uk

On the day, I worked alongside County Caterers who I meet regularly at a weddings and corporate events throughout Portsmouth and Hampshire and I can certainly recommend them also as they often feed me too - THANK YOU!! http://www.countycaterers.co.uk/

I was also assisted by the very able and helpful Master of Ceremonies: Philip Gardner: http://www.toastmasterphilipgardner.co.uk/

I stayed right up to the first dance and Sadie’s Father sang a song for the couple to dance to, followed by a band for everyone, on this occasion!!

The images will be available for viewing for Sadie and Mike and their families very soon. I try and allow my blog images to reflect an insight into my approach and interests in photography and these are some of my personal favourites from this fantastic day.
