Portsmouth Wedding Photographer: Gaynor and Gavin get married at Portsmouth Register Offices.

Today I was at Portsmouth Registrar Offices for a second wedding that afternoon!! I was doing the wedding photography for Gaynor and Gavin, but rarely cover two weddings in the same day.
The ceremony was good to photograph, albeit late afternoon in December meant for most photos being indoors on the attractive staircase.

We posed for some photos at various locations around the Register Offices before the couple and their 45 guests headed off to a local Social Club for a wedding breakfast and an evening of celebrations. The Portsmouth Register Offices is one of my favorite Register Offices to cover, as the space and gardens are fantastic and the staff are always helpful to me too. You can see their website here: www.portsmouth.gov.uk/living/580.html

The images will be available for viewing for Gaynor and Gavin and their families very soon.

Portsmouth Wedding Photographer. Charlotte and David get married at Portsmouth Register Offices

Today I was at Portsmouth Registrar Offices. I was doing the wedding photography at the first of two weddings (for me!!) for Charlotte and David. Having taken some photos at the house, I headed off early to the Register Offices and was soon contacted by David who had arranged a surprise trip and arrival in a great Cadillac via one of his friends. The car made for some pretty unique photos as you can see.

The ceremony was good to photograph as the Portsmouth Register Offices has great light and an attractive staircase, gardens and ample space. The weather was bright and kind to us, albeit the early morning snowfall meant that even at 2.30pm we were the first onto the fresh snow for photos that afternoon.

We moved swiftly for photos into the gardens, after the ceremony performed by the Portsmouth Registrars: www.portsmouth.gov.uk/living/580.html We posed for some photos at various locations around the gardens before the couple and their 20 guests had a short break, before heading off to The Royal Marines Museum for the wedding breakfast and an evening of celebrations.

The website of the Royal Marines Museum is here: http://www.royalmarinesmuseum.co.uk/ All approx 100 guests had a seemingly fantastic evening and the superb catering was provided by Green Parrot: http://www.greenparrotcatering.co.uk/

The images will be available for viewing for Charlotte and David and their families very soon.

Hampshire Wedding Photographer - Holly and Darrell get married at the Manor Barn in Buriton.

Today I was at the fantastic venue known as The Manor Barn in Buriton, Hampshire. I was doing the wedding photography for Holly and Darrell who live near Portsmouth. They originally booked me for their wedding in December 2008 but let me know in good time that they had postponed it until December 2009 and thankfully, I was free and available to work with them, a year later, on their revised date.

After some photos with Holly, Mum and the bridesmaids at the house, I tripped up the short journey along the A3 to Buriton which is a beautiful small hamlet with a duck pond, church and a couple of pubs – just off the South Downs. This barn is a great venue for a wedding and easily catered for the 100+ guests and family at the wedding. The ceremony was great to photograph, despite the fact that a huge Christmas tree was blocking the spot I might typically stand in!! The weather was as poor as it has ben pretty much continuously for the last fortnight, albeit we managed to get some outdoor shots before the wedding and a few of the largest groups after the ceremony too – We were lucky, armed with a white brolly and Holly’s pink wellies, we also managed to get a few shots of the happy couple in the gardens, before returning indoors for the remainder of the day.

The Manor Barn is one of my favourite wedding or reception venues in Hampshire, and has attractive grounds and gardens to the rear of the Manor House, and vast attractive spaces inside too.

You can view the website of The Manor Barn, Buriton here: http://www.themanorbarn.co.uk/ or call and speak with Janet. Tel: 01730 770 073.

Holly chose a surpise Classic VW 1979 Bay Window Bus (campervan to most people) as a wedding car. It was provided by 'Solent Bug and Bus' and they run three classic retro VWs, including a Karmann cabrolet Beetle and a spilt screen bus called 'Basil' too. Call them for more details on 02392 524 369 or visit: http://www.solentvw.co.uk/

The images will be available for viewing for Holly and Darrell and their families very soon and there are a good selection posted here too, to give you a flavour of the day and evening too.

Hampshire Portrait Photographer. High key - Childrens portrait photography

This afternoon was dedicated to shooting some studio portraits in the run up to Christmas. They were all done in the fashionable 'high key' style. I focused on some individual and sibling portraits of children and babies, in family groups and was assisted by their parents. All of the families were from Hampshire with most being in the Emsworth and Southbourne areas.

The images will be available for viewing for parents and their families very soon and there are a good selection posted here too, to give you an insight into what we did.

Portsmouth Wedding Photographer. Joanne and Andrew get married at Portsmouth Register Offices.

Today I was at Portsmouth Registrar Offices. I was doing the wedding photography for Joanne and Andrew. The ceremony was good to photograph as the Portsmouth Register Offices has great light and an attractive staircase, gardens and ample space, unlike many Register Offices.

The weather and light was kind to us, albeit it there was a deluge or two before the wedding and on the horizon afterwards too – We were lucky as the recent gales and flooding meant for soft grounds & potential for really poor weather for photos.

We moved swiftly for photos into the gardens, after the ceremony performed by the Portsmouth Registrars: www.portsmouth.gov.uk/living/580.html We posed for some photos at various locations around the gardens before the couple and their 25 guests headed off to a local Social Club for a wedding breakfast and an evening of celebrations.
En route to the Social Club in Copnor we took a detour in the stretch limo, to take some photos of the couple in the shelter of the ‘hot walls’ in Old Portsmouth and some of those images are included in the sample alongside this blog. Its one of my favourite public places for portraits in Portsmouth.
The images will be available for viewing for Jo and Andy and their families very soon.

Hampshire Sports Events Photographer. The Gosport Half Marathon 15th November 2009

Today I attended the Gosport Half Marathon, hosted by the members of Gosport Road Runners Running Club: http://www.gosportroadrunners.org.uk/

I was the official photographer for the event on 15th November. The event website is here: http://www.gosportroadrunners.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57&Itemid=58 and it was a good turnout / entry level, despite the recent gales and threat of poor weather on the day itself.

We had very sunny and bright conditions and yet I managed to capture a good selection of images around the course and finish area.

I photographed the fun run and also the finish area and was able to capture images of the vast majority of runners as they ran towards the finish funnel.

The images will be available for viewing and sale to the runners very soon, typically within 24 hours of each event.

Portsmouth Wedding Photographer. Susie and Derek get married at HMS Warrior in Portsmouth Dockyard.

Today I was covering a local wedding at one of my favorite locations – HMS Warrior in the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth. I was doing the wedding photography for Susie and Derek.

The ceremony was on the Half Deck and the weather came very close to dampening spirits, with a deluge just prior to the 5.15pm ceremony. The atmosphere at this is fantastic location is truly special and a great time was clearly had by all the 90 guests, with a further number arriving for the wedding breakfast at around 7.30pm.

Despite a heavy shower just before the wedding, we had some admittedly very dark opportunities for photos on deck after a ceremony performed by the Portsmouth Registrars: www.portsmouth.gov.uk/living/580.html and then a blessing by an Anglican Priest and sailing friend of the couple.

Having photographed the ceremony and signing of the registers, we opted for some photos on deck and at various locations around the ship and were lucky with a break in the heavy showers, before the couple and their guests headed ‘down below’ deck for an evening of celebrations and great food.

You can view the website of HMS Warrior here: http://www.hmswarrior.org/

Portsmouth Wedding Photographer - Laura and Jason get married at HMS Warrior

Today I was back again at a local wedding at one of my favorite locations – HMS Warrior in the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth. I was doing the wedding photography for Laura and Jason.

The ceremony was in the more intimate location of the Captains Cabin today & the weather threatened but failed to dampen spirits before the ceremony. The mood and atmosphere at this fantastic location is truly special and a good time was clearly had by all the guests.

We were lucky with bright, yet windy conditions, despite heavy showers before the wedding - for photos. Having photographed the ceremony and signing of the registers, we opted for some photos on deck and at various locations around the ship and were lucky with a short break in the heavy showers, before the couple and their guests headed off to the Portsmouth Marriot Hotel for their reception.

Sports and Event Photographer in Surrey - Official photos for the Cabbage Patch 10 running race in Twickenham

Today I visited a regular annual event for me – the Cabbage Patch 10 Running Race, hosted by The Stragglers Running Club, near Twickenham. I was the official photographer for the event on 18th October was their annual and very competitive 10 mile ‘road’ running race. The event website is here: http://www.cabbagepatch10.com/

We had sunny and bright conditions and managed to capture a good selection of images around the course and finish area.

Along with my colleague we captured the runners at around 2 miles, 9 miles and pretty much all at the finish approach. I photographed the finish area and was able to catch up with some old friends who belong to The Stragglers running club and also the time keepers / finish time recorders from Sport Systems: http://www.sportsystems.co.uk/ss/index.htm

The images will be available for viewing and sale to the runners very soon, typically within 24 hours of each event.

Portsmouth Wedding Photographer - Carol and Robin get married at HMS Warrior

Today was a local wedding at one of my favorite locations – HMS Warrior in the Historic Portsmouth Dockyard. I was doing the wedding photography for Carol and Robin.

The ceremony was enjoyable to photograph and there is just sufficient light from a mini spot light over the location that the couple stand in on the ‘Half Deck’. The mood and atmosphere at this fantastic location is truly special.

We were lucky and bright conditions and surprisingly warm weather meant for great opportunities for photos. Having photographed the ceremony and signing of the registers, we opted for some photos on deck and at various locations around the ship, before the couple and their guests headed below for a great meal, provided by the staff of County Caterers. You can view their website here, or via the link to them from my own website links page: http://www.countycaterers.co.uk/
